Abstract

This document addresses the need to include a subject on aerial photography and video in communication degrees, given the growing use and demand for these technologies. Curricula need to adapt quickly to technological advances such as drones, which have democratized access to aerial imagery and created new employment opportunities. In addition, drones have several advantages over traditional filming. The use of drones requires specific technical skills that are not currently included in communication degrees, forcing professionals to seek external training. It is argued that a specific subject would provide practical and theoretical knowledge, increasing employability in various fields such as filming, advertising, journalism and other audiovisual industries. The text also highlights the history and development of aerial photography, from its beginnings with hot-air balloons to the current use of drones, emphasizing its impact on many disciplines. Finally, a detailed curriculum proposal for the new subject is presented.
