This article analyzes gender equity in editorial bodies of scientific communication, focusing on 20 journals from Ibero-American countries, North America, and Europe in the field of Information Science, indexed in the Redalyc database. Anchored in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), the study proposes and applies a methodological model to analyze gender equity across different types of editorial roles, with special attention to the functions performed by editors, editorial boards, scientific committees, and technical teams. Using a mixed-methods approach, 628 editorial records were analyzed, corresponding to 578 individuals involved in scientific journals. Among them, 50 hold multiple roles or work in more than one journal, totaling 114 repeated participations. The results indicate a relatively balanced distribution between men (53.8%) and women (46.2%), suggesting progress in terms of parity. However, this apparent equality masks significant asymmetries: men predominate in consultative and symbolically prestigious roles, while women are the majority in executive and technical functions, which are traditionally less valued within the academic reward system. This configuration was interpreted in light of the specificities of the Information Science field and the contributions of the Sociology of Science to understanding hierarchies and inequalities within editorial structures. By highlighting more inclusive and sustainable editorial practices, the study contributes to advancing the SDG agenda within scientific communication.References
